Oologah Softball Girls- Raised 2,800 through "Change for Change" Campaign

Andrea Vaughan, head softball coach for the Oologah Lady Mustangs Softball team, decided last spring that she wanted to incorporate a way for the softball girls to use their gifts and talents to benefit a local non-profit organization. She came up with a list of 10 local organizations and let the girls vote as a team. They chose Project Hope Worldwide as their organization to benefit.

"We used our tournament as a way to raise funds for this organization," stated Coach Vaughan. The girls visited local businesses in Oologah in hopes of gaining pledges towards every run they scored in their tournament. They also held a contest within their team called "Change for Change" to raise additional funds. As a team, they also wore t-shirts promoting the cause.

The team raised $2,800 for Project Hope Worldwide, all of which will go toward helping the orphans in the orphanage! "I am really excited about the opportunity it provided for our student athletes to use their talents for a greater cause," Vaughan said.
